ABOUT

Hello and welcome! My name is Gabrielle Waters and I own Otherworld Geckos, a smallfry operation focusing on the breeding and husbandry of Correlophus ciliatus and Uroplatus phantasticus.

 

When I was a lost and confused young'in, I obtained a BA in Graphic Design. I quickly learned that my heart was not fully in the arts, however, and went back to school in my late 20's and eventually received my BS in Zoology with a minor in Psychology. During my time as a science major, I dabbled in a variety of research, including disease monitoring for local amphibian species; the effects of the parasites on monarch butterflies; and even ventured into paleontology!

 

My next major goal in life is to move on to a PhD with a focus on conservation. I have a deep appreciation and love for the world around us, and fully believe that conservation starts at home. After all, people will only protect what they love, and often misunderstand the natural world and its inhabitants - especially those who are not furred and feathered. Additionally, I am fascinated by the evolution of so-called "alien" adaptations, and centered Otherworld Geckos around the species that captivate me in that regard. It also doesn't help that they're just so darn cute!
